Mary G. Smith - If you click on me, you'll go to my website!

I’m an artist who is completely self-taught.  My favourite subjects thus far have been children and dogs.  However, I fully intend to branch out soon by including abstracts, still life and landscapes in a more loose style.  I’m hoping that as I keep posting additional details in my blog, you will check back from time to time to see what’s new.  Normally, I work with acrylics as they are fast-drying.  However, my favourite medium is oils for their richness and viscosity.

I’ll be writing at times about my paintings and at other times about problems and solutions I encounter in my daily life.  The fact that I’m not an expert puts me on the same plane with my readers, and therefore  any solutions to problems with painting, computers, websites or just every day life will be written from the perspective of the average person.  Basically my credo is - if I can fix it, you can too.  And if I can’t explain the process well enough, I’ll certainly point out where you can find the solution.  Hopefully you’ll find this blog not only interesting, but useful as well.

i believe this is my son nathan in your picture of the game. it was in sioux falls sd during christmas vacation. it was in the frank olsen park. he was wearing exactly the same jacket in there, the exact same cap. my other two sons were also skating, i had just bought them skates for Christmas. someone was taking pictures that day, nathan ran up to the house to tell me. we were living in the blue house behind the skating rink. please let me know.

  3. I’m so sorry, but I’ve never been to Sioux Falls …. although I’m sure that it’s beautiful there. I’m from the Niagara Falls area in Ontario. I usually paint using either the local scenery or from memories of my childhood. As it turns out, it’s a happy coincidence that I painted a child who looked like your son. Almost all of my subjects are my children, their friends or our relatives, as we have quite an extended family.

Thank you for writing me! Have a great day!
